First to notch points were Weraroa, Who scOred ah eight-point win over oia Boys, and the Coileg-e first and second elevsns, who obtained five pointers at the eXpehSe Of Levin and Foxton. Saunders. openedj the season3s bowling honours with an excellent six wickets for '15 runs. Othet Scorefs wefe Barraud seven and Gardiner four. In the bowling, iSmith took two wickets for three runs, Wilson one for 16 and Ryder . one for 15.
Highlight of the match was *a knock by Wilsoh for 52 of the total of 89 in Weraroa's first inning's. The remaining batsmen wete Single figure seorers. N. sciascia took five wickets for 22 runs, Lynch four for 24 and Gardiner one for 20. ' / In their second innings, Old Boys declared With four down for 72, G. SciaScia batting well to score ,48 (not out): The four wickets were , shared between Ryder^Wilson, Smith and ElliS. This left [Weraroa with 41 runs to get in less ;than 20. mihutes. Uhdeterred, they wenti in to bat and with Ryder : playing brightly and notching 34 in qumk tiifig, they succeeded. Ellis' and Wilson with two and one respgctiveiy and four extras, * brougnt the score up to the required total. Lynch bowled Ellis, his t being the ohly Wickbt to fall.
College v. Levin College seniors beat Levin by nine runs. Levin had first use of the wicket and compiled 81, with contributiohs of 18 from J. Granger, 15 from R. Smith, 13 from D. Lambert ahd 12 from EaSton. Southcombe, althoUgh he only secured three runs for his team, took two Levin wickets for ho tuns. Lahg captured two for 11, Ahdrews two for 16 and Ball two for 26.' ' College's reply was an easy 90, 34 of these being compiled by Ball in a nice exhibition of batting. P. McClune contributed 16, Chevis ndne and Lang nine. Meddings took three Wickets for 18, Lambert two for 21 and Galloway two for ; 13 * College v. Foxton j College second eieven beat Foxiton by an innings and 28 runs. IThe game was played at Foxton and the visitors, batting first, gathered 115 runs. Foxton replied- with 36. ;This was almost ehtirely due to 'the excellent dispiay of bowling by Young, who collected nine widkets for eight runs. Foxton's second 1 innings score was 51 and again the bowling honours went to Young. He took six wickets for nine runs, wliiie Willi&ms took two ;for folir and Harvey two for 16.
