Amazing Adventure With Shark
Reeeived Monday, 7 p.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 11. After a big thresher shark had flung itself into a rowing boat olt Avoca Beach, 50 miles north oi Sydney, one man swarn three ntile's to shore while two companions spent over six hours in the waterloggea craft. The men were rowing to Avoca after a fishing trip, when the shark attacked the "boat. The shark first attempted to hite a hole in the craft. Then the how was dragged down and the fish c'ame aboard. The men dived" overhoard and hy tipping the hoat on one side, gave the shark its chance to escape. Within a minute the shark was in its native element again and the men were back in the hoat "but the craft was almost swamped ana the oars were gone. Using a raft fashioned from floorhoards, a man swam two miles towards the coast. Ahandoning the craft, he was swept another mile by currents and thrown on to rocks. The other men were rescued hy a surf "boat. It is helieved that the thresher shark mistook the hoat for a whale.
