"There was an urgent demand for live pigeons at Masterton at the weekend. The Wairarapa gun dog trials were to be conducted at Te Whiti and the organisers had made arrangements with a Wellington merchant wJho supplies most of the city hotels with their poultry to let -them have the pigeons required for the trials. The merchant transferred the order to a Christchurch dealer and the birds were forwarded by interisland ferry to Wellington, but no ipstructions were sent with the e®nsignment order and the birds arrived already cleaned and plueked,
