No Rush To Obtain Butter Ration Sheets

There has been no great rush to secure the' new ration sheets for butter, which are now available at the Levin Post Ofhce. The postmaster, Mr. A. V. Morgan, said today that there were 8000 sheets to be distributed and as they came into use on October 22, he was hoping the public would make an effort to obtain them early. Special staff had been assigned to the ration eounter for this purpose and' if people would make early application, it would avoid any Queues and delay in the issue of the sheets. Application forms can be secured at the post office and must be filled in accoi'ding to the instructions on them. The consumer's surname and Christian name must pe c.early written in the space provided and the old ration book number filled in on the form. It is then signed by the applicant and taken to t'he post office with the old book. In order to save the staff a great deal of extra- work; applicants for new sheets are requested to place ' each applica-' tion form inside the ration book to which it belongs. A separate application is required for eaeh consumer and for children under 16 it must be made by the parent or guardian if. they are living at home. The new sheets measure about 6 x 9 inches and are printed on a lightweight yellow paper. There are 52 coupons on each sheet. As yet no enterprising person has come forward with a cover for the sheets. As they are only pr.nted on paper, the cover would need to be of fairly heavy cardboard. "I hope someone will turn out a cover, or we will not be able to read the number on £he sheets in six -weeks," was one grocer's comment.
