Enjoyable Gift Evening To Popular Couple
Those fortunate enough to be present at the Anglican Hall on. Tuesday night will xong remember the ■occasion. A gift evening ha'd been arranged in honour of a very popular young couple, Miss Betty Edwards* and Mr. Colin Taylor, who are shortly to be married. Dancing to tuneful music by a variety of musicians was freely indulged in and enjoyed. Numerous items were presented, all being well received, and the impromptu "clowning antics" of a visitor kept everyone in a riot of laughter for a .large portion of the evening. Following an appetising supper, the appearance of Pam. and Jan., the two small sisters of the guest of the evening, drawing a 'decorated chariot which was bedecked with a host of useful articles, with Miss Frances Scatchard holding the reins, brought forth sustained applause. The M.C., Mr. J. Miller, called on Mr. J. MacLeod, who offered the congratulations of all present to the happy couple, and tendered them the very best of good wishes. Musical honours followed. Bouquets were presented to Miss Edwards and to Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Taylor, and shoulder sprays to Mrs. H. Tews and Mrs. J. Royal, after which Mr. Taylor thanked all for their attendance, making special mention of the organisers of the function, after. which the many gifts were opened. Novelty dances were won by Miss M. Wallington and Mr. F. Catley, Mrs. C. Robertson and Mr. G. Knox, and Mrs. F, Edwards and Mr. F. Catley. Items serious and gay were presented by Messrs. A. Lumley and J. Miller and by Messrs. D. Collier and G. Knox, of Levin. Dance music was supplied by Mr. and Mrs. H. Tews, and by Messrs. D. Collier and N. Walker.
