DUNEDIN, Oct. 7. The fast and accurate shooting of T. Trask ensured victory for Palmerston North in the New Zealand womeit's A grade basketball championship linal for the Gay trophy and shield tonight. Sh,e scored *1 6 nf a total of 23 points for her team which beat Wellington by the narrow margin of two points. Palmerston North therefore remain unbeaten. The young Canterbury B team, maintaining its unbeaten record, won the B grade championship eup by defeating Central Otago 12 — 5 in a fast game. The Routh Island team played a disappointing game marked by inaccurate shooting, to lose to the superior North Island team by 37 points to 18. A. Schwabe scored four Held goals and two penalties for North Island and T. Trask scored one field goal, N. Rogers five and P. Lloyd three. G. Cameron scored three field goals and three penalties, J. Townsend one field goal and one penaltv while L. Wilson scored two field goals, L. Johns one and B. Newey fi^ed two penalties.
