Crack N.Z. Riflemen Go To Australia
Teams from the Okawa and Petone Rifle Clubs last weekend left for Sydney where they will take part in the New South Wales shoot at the Liverpool Range, a few miles out of Sydney. The shoot started yesterday and will continue for a week. Commenting on the New Zealand representatives, Lieut.-Col-onel G. P. O'Leary, O.B.E., who is the chief range officer of the National' Rifle Association, told a "Chronicle" reporter today that much interest would be- centred on Major W. N, Maisefield of Kekeranga (Marlborough) , who was cpmpeting. Major Masefield Was a previous New Ze.alan'd ehampion apd 'had established a record last year by winning the Ballifiger Belt for the fifth time. With the Okawa Rifle Club was Maurice Gordon, of Hastings, whp was runner-up in last year's championships. R. H.
