BOTTLED MILK WORKERS TO SEEK 35-HOUR WEEK

AUCKLAND, Oct. 7. The New Zealand Milk Pasteurising and Bottle Factories Employ-i ees' Union will seek a 35-hour week in five working days of seven hours each when negotiations with the employers in the Conciliation Council for a new agreement begin at Wellington on November 9. The union wili ask that each worker be allowed his 'two days'ofi: consecutively. New wage rates and classiflcations will be sought, with a weekly wage of £9 15s for a foreman and £9 5s for a first assistant on any shift where 'the number of workers exceeds 25. The present rates are £7 2s 9d and £6 17s 6d on any shift where the number of workers exceeds 31.
