Horse Sports Club Holds Annual Meeting

Mr; S. W. Barber presided over an attendance of some 20 members of the Shannon Horse Sports Club in the Druids' Hall recently. In his annual report, Mr. Barber stated that the activities of the club had not been great during the past year as the annual sports meeting had to be 'Gancelled owing to the infantile paralysis'outbreak. HoweVer, some routihe • work had been done and he wishe'd to thank his various committees for ' their assistance. The report of the Manawatu Districts Sports Club was read and eonfirmed. It was pointed opt in the report that Shannon had been allocate'd February 26 as the date for the next hxture. Following a discussion it was decided that the club become an •mcorporated body. Good wishes "for a spee'dy recovery werei-extcnd-ed to two members qf the club in hospital t the time of the meeting. They were Messrs. L. Coulter and V. McEwen. A general discussion on the pony events at the annual fixture resulted in the matter being left to the committee to arrange. It was agreed that owing to the large number of ponies in the district, the assistance of members of the clubs would be necessary in drawing up the pony events for the sport's. Mr. L. Carter was appointed to arrange the athletic events with the Shannon Athletic Club. The grounds committee reported that it would have the ground harrowed and rolled for the ioming fixture. - -The election of officers for the coming year was as follows: — President: Mr. S. W. Barber; viee'presidents: Messrs. R. R. Lind and W. Moynihan"; secretary; Mr. R. Vinsen; treasurer: Mr. F. Edmonds; au'ditor: Mr. C. M. Cronquest; grounds committee; Messrs. Lind, Barber, Moynihan and C. Guerin; progfamme , committee: Messrs. D. WilliamS, j. Newth, L. Carter, S. W. Barber, J. Proctor, C. McCarthy, W. Moynihan and B. Henshaw. The next general meeting of the club will be held during November.
