Liebestraum Scores In Big Hawke's Bay Race

Liebestraum, -.third to Batley and Tussock in the 'big! race on the first day of the Hawke's Bay spring meeting, won Saturday's feature race decisively from Carnegie, Lord Holland and Desert Fox after a grand race. Indian Song, Batley and Kippo were prominent early and the pace was solid. Half a mile from home the order was Indian Song, from Kippo, Welcome Guest, Batley, Carnegie, Tussock, Lord Holland, Liebestraum, Desert Fox and Pimlico. There was little change into the straight where Carnegie had charge and Liebestraum finished very solidly to get the verdict. Indian Song was fifth. Kiirg of Quiz went close to an all-the-way victory in the op'en sprint but he was beaten by Wild Note. Sweet Nynrph, tailed off early, fiiiished brilliantly for third money ahead of Embrolita and Stony Brolre. Vadoz, owned and trained by J. R. jMeagher, of YN'oodville, seored a decisive victory in the Guineas, and Fighting Fox, a winner the first da.y, was second ahead of Hasty Glance, wliich won on the first •day. Festal was fourth. Master Kip finished fast into fourth piace'.
