Otaki's Spring Meeting Concludes
The Otaki Maori Racing Club's spring meeting was concluded in fine weather and the track was in good order. • The attendance was fair and the totalisator handled £57,626, compared with £69,1981 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £113,469^, compared witjh £134,463 last year, the decrease being £20,99~3i.

I n a great finish Ghristopher Wren beat Lord Manna by the narivwest of margins. Tudor Chief and Royal Moutoa led through the straight from FOvtitude, .Mesalliance, Lord Manna, Sunshine Bay. Ghristopher Wren, Jolly Goodfellow and Roman Duke, but Royal Moutoa took over to lead into tlre back stretcli from Tudor Chief, Sunshine Bay, Ghristopher Wren and Lord Manna. Ghristopher Wren and Lord Manna moved up to join Royal Moutoa at the lialf-mile and tliey led liim into tlre straight. Tn a great tussle to the judge Ghristopher Wren just beat Lord Manna, with Sunshine Bay a length and a half awav third. Blue Skimmers and Kawhia missed Ihe jump-out, and Helerrette and La Modelle showed out early l'rom Beckon, the trio being l'ollowed at the end of a eouple of furlongs by Lady Myrtle aird Ghampagne. The laslnamed ran up to join Helenette at the hall'-mile, with La Modelle, Beekon and Lady Myrtle next, and Ghampagne led aeross the top, where Vincette had ruri, up smartly, with Beckon and La Modelle next. Aftor The Stormovik had jumped out smartly, Peter Theio led to the back stretcli from The Stormovik, Imperial, Bronstar, Night School, lligh Order and White Clil'fs. Night School moved up smartly to follow Peter Theio and Imperial at the half-mile, and running for the straight lie was just in front of Lord Theio, Imperial, Peter Theio and Bronstar. Imperial took the lead a furlong from home, but Bronstar came with a great ruri 011 Ihe outer to beat him by a liead. Half a length back Lord Theio hung 011 for third ahead of The Stormovik, with Night School, Bon Chale and Merry Rohln next to finish.

Concrete and Yasda missed the jump-out, and Red Herring and Franada jumped out smartly from Pitoitoi and Air Belle. The last-named quiekly ran to the front and at the half-mile was clear from Red Herring, Pitoitoi, Franada, Playtos and Garry. Castlebrae moved up smartly crossing the top but Air Belle lield 011 to win by a head from Red Herrjng, with Castlebrae oiily a nose awa)-. Nullali^ lost his rider within the first hundred yards, and .Battle On led out of the straight from Theioway, Nlatara and Sii Derizil, with Foxton iart and Beau Bijou at the rear. .Battle On was headed by Lady Oratory at the furjfong but Foxton ian came wide 011 the oulside to win by half a length, Lady Oratory beating Patunui by a head for sfecdlftptplace.
