Nepia, who has been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, will be pleased to learn 'that she has ibeen able to return to her home. Football and Races Popular Followers of rugby football and racing left Shannon in large numbers on Saturday. Seating in the bus which ran to Wellington for the final All Black trial was fully taxed and the bus for the Otaki races was also filled to capacity. It was understandable that the streets were completely deserted, as those who did not leave Shannon were at home listening to the broadcast of the football. Successful Paddy's Market The Women's Section of the Shannon Returned Services' Association held a very successful Paddy's market in Laurvig's Hall 011 Ffiday. There was a good display of produce and cakes on the various stalls when the hall opened, but these were soon to disappear as the, crowds gathered in the hall. By late afternoon almost all the saleable goods were sold. The R.S.A. Food for Britain fund will benefit greatly by the .ladles' effort. Moutoa To Have Gymkhana At a recent meeting of the Moutoa Pony Club it was decided to hold a gymkhana in Mr. S. W. Barber's paddock, near the Moutoa Hall, on Saturday, November 13. A progralnme of pony' events for pony club members, athletics . by members of the Shannon Athletic Club and a gymnastic display by the numerous stalls will convert the been arranged. Free hot water and the numerous stall will convert the field into a picnic °round. The Horowhenua Pipe Band will be in attendance. A dance will be held in the evening.
