Pei-sonal Mrs. J. MacLeod, of Convent Road, has entered Amara Private Hospital, Levin, for treatment. The death occurred 011 Wednesday at the Palmerston North Hospital of Mr. Philip Hooper, oi Reikorangi, brother of Mary, Suz-.ii, George and Jim. The deceased was 65 years of age. SuccessfuL Wind-up Dance Despite the weather conditions, a spiendid crowd attended the Manakau Badminton Club's victory dance on Saturday last. The function was consrdered a fitting wind-up to the season's activities, the Manakau Club having earliei won the Horowhenua A. grade championship. Gale Demolishes Landmark The trigstation in the vicinity oi the Otaki goif links, which has been there more years than most people can remember, has been demolished in the weSterly gale that has been raging all the ! week. Apart from considerabxe idamage to fruit trees and smaii plants, Otaki otherwise appears tc have escaped any serious results. Unusual Accident Mr. Hec. Bryant, of Manakau 'was the victim of a nasty accident on Wednesday, which luckily was not attended by any serious consequences for him. He was driving cattle when one charged and gorea his horse, the horse being badly injured an'd falling' on to and pinning his rider. A passing motorist, Mr. E N. Cunningham, of Otaki, renaered assistance and conveyed Mr. Bryant to his home. The unfortunate horse was so badly injure'd it was thought it would have to be destroyed. ii i ■■ ii
