The local elocUtion teacher, Miss Lois Lind, achieved outstanding successes " aL the recent competitions festival at Palmerston North with her pupils frQm Shannon aird Levin. The ; foliowing are the individual reisults achieved by Miss Lind's pupils':; — Therese Qumn (Levin), two firsts and one third; Marshall Maher (Levin), .three firsts; Donald ' Shaw (Levin) two firsts; Fleur- Haley (Levin), one first and one h.c.; Barry Walker (Levin),, one first; June Scott (Shannon) , one second; Robyn Thornley (Levin), one third. Lorraine Vinsen (Shannon), one third, Champlonship honours won by Miss Lind's pupils were: — Girls' championship (12 to 17 years), Therese Quinn (Levin) ; boy's championship . (12 to 17 years) , Marshall Maher (Levin) ; Miss Sydney Trotter's cup for highest aggregate marks in 12 t'o 14 years' section, Marshall Maher (Levin). Beverly Miers, Mrs. R. Lind's only pupil in the pianoforte section, 10 to 12' years,' was highly commQnded. , • ' "
