Roeeivecl Thursdav, 7 p.in. LONDON, Sept. 9. Now in London after attending internationai oonferences since mid-Jnne, is Mr. James Thorn. Ile is to load the New Zealand delegation at United Nations' Assemhly in Paris later this montli until tlie arrival of .Mr. Prasei who is to attoiul 011 the eonclusion oi the Prime Ministers' Oonference in London. Mr. Thorn left Ottawa in Juue to represent New Zealand at the International Labour C'onfeienee at San Fran risco. Ile then flew to Dunera to lead the Ne.w Zealand delegation at a meetings oi' the Keojiomie and Soeial rouncil of United Nations, which lasted seven weeks. Varions reports were consid^ed, he said, jncluding one on the International Labour Organisat ion. The Soviet delegation proposed that its constitution should be altered to give the workers lialf representation, with the other half divided between enjployers and Governnients. This was opposed by New Zealand and heavily defeated. Questions of equal puy and trade uniou rights. were referred to the next meetijig' of the couneil at Lake Success. New Zealand' was re-elected to the agenda- eonmiittee. ' After the conference Mr. Thorn went to Holland at the invitation of I)r. ({elisscn, the Xetherlamls Minister Plenipotentiary. Ile was given an oftieial weleome by the Government of the Province of Limburg and visited the State eoahuines. Ile was in Amsterdam oti the day Queen Willielmina alxlicuted and heard her and Queen .luliana address a crowd of 300,00(1. Mr. Thorn leaves London 011 September 14 for Paris to attend a Unesco meetings before the United Nations' Assemblv begins 011 September 21.
