Obituary
MR. H. P. FREEMAN The death occurred sud.denly at his ' residence, Otaki Raihyay, on Tuesday morning of Mr.. Herbert Percival Freeman, aged 66 years. Deceased, who , . had resided in Otaki for the past 59 years, had always enjoyed reasonably" gopd health, and his passing came as a shock tp his relatives apd many friends.r. . ! . t A son of the late Mr. Herbert Freeman, J.P., deceased came to Otaki with his parents in 1889 qt the age of seven, and with other members of the family was among the earliest pupils of the Otaki State School. He was an active figure in hpckey circles, being the sole remaining member, sti'll in Otaki, of the first hockey team formed in 1906. He was also a member .of the team which won championship honours in 1910. In 1911 Mr. Freeman married Miss Alice Hurley (DaiSy) Bills, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Bills, pioneer settlers of Rahui. After serving for 17 years with the Post and Telegraph Department, he tpok over a farm at Rahui, where he lived quie'tly until his 'death. Of a quiet unassuming nature, Mr. Freeman, was very highly respected, and his bereaved wife and famfiy will have the sympathy of a host of friends. Besides his wife and family of four, Mesdames E. Doyle. Ti. Kirker and N, Walker, and Mr. F. P. Freeman, all of Otaki, three brothers, ,Messrs. A. Freeman (Otaki) , G. Freeman (Dunedin) , H. Freeman (Morrinsville) , and one sister, Mrs. B. Simmonds (Waikanae), are left to mourn his passing. Anpther brother, Mr. L. Freeman, predeceased him a few years ago. The funeral took place today.
