Swimming Bath Extensions
The proposed additions and-. improvements to the Coronation Swimming Baths were discussed by the president, Mr. D. P. Todd, iij his • report to the annual meeting of the Levin Swimming and Lifesaving Club on Monday night. "The . executive interested itself in efforts to have the lone-awaited improvments to the baths put in hand," said Mr. Todd. "The Levin Borough Council was appproached and the club offered it the.sum of £50 from its reserve funds towards the ,cost of the workj. if it could" be put in * hand during the winter months. The council was most helpful and authorised the work to be ^arried out if it could be finally completed when put in hand, Promises of assistance in having the work carried out were readily forthcoming and it appeared as if the necessary materials could be obtained. "However, the Building Control'ler then came into the picture and, despite a personal interview by the Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, with that official the necessary permit could not be obtained. The thanks of the club are due. to Mr. G.vC. France for his efforts on the club's behalf in taking out an estimate of costs and quantities of materials. The committee recommend that the executive for the coming season should keep this work in view and ensure that as soon as a building permit is available the long promised extension ,of the baths wilf beeome an actuality," he concluded.
