Second Round Of Golf Championships
All matches in the second round of the Levin Golf Club's championships were finalised over last weekend, when under perfect conditions for play semi-finals in all grades were found. Results were as follows: — Senior: H. Bull . beaj E. W. Clark, S. C. Franklin beat A. Saunders, D. E. Clark beat A. Landers, W. G. Clark beat J. N. Sams. Intermediate: J. A. C. King beat R. A. Frederiksoh, H. W. L. Walker beat D. P. -Todd, W. S. Ogier beat A. E. Bennett, O. C Lagor beat T. J. Coutie. Junior: B. Antcliff beat M. C. Wilson, P. Rogers beat W. Bull, J. E. Fullarton beat W. H. Walker, F. E. Langelan beat J. Corry. Single Bogey Match Playing on Saturday, afternoon in conjunction with the championship, three players, F. G. Carrington, D. E. Clark and N. Thornley, finished equal, all 'having cards of one up. The former player secured the honours for the day, winning on a count back. Following are the scores from those players whose cards were recorded: — F. G. Carrington, D. E. Clark and N. Thornley, 1 up; H. Bull, all square; B*. D. Richards, 1 down; W. S. Ogier, 2 down; R. Clarke, F. :H. Wade, G. Barclay and J. Corjbishley, 3 down; T. Ecclesfield, H. Murray, J. S. Tomlinson and T. J. Coutie, 4" down; O. C.~ Lagor, 5 down; J. Todd and R; A, Jones, 7 down; L. S.n6armic^ael^F'ddwd". x D.C.L. Cup Players to reach semi-final games in the D. C. L. Handicap 'Cup, with the exception of J. Corjbishley and C. R. Hosie, who have yet to finalise their games, resulted ' as follows: — W. G. Clark beat J. Corry, H. Bull beat B. Antcliff, B. J. Eagar beat M. C. Wilson. Next Week's Fixture A me'dal round will be played on Saturday afternoon next, the draw for partners being made at the usual time, 12.45 to 1.15 p.m. Saveral players who have cup muc-..es to play, particularly those in the Karakaramea, are asked to try and arrange their games to coincide. with this fixture, thus bringing all the official cluh fixtures to schedule. "Top Dogs" To keep play moving in the "Top Dog" fixture, substitutes for both holders and challengers were played, over. the weekencte • t -A. Saunders, one of the holder&, had B. Antcliff a$ sub>titute . for the other holder, J. Corbishley, while C. Wallace, challenger, had B. J. Eagar as his aid in place ,of W. F. Ryder. The trophies once again changied hands, Wallace and Eagar prevailing one up. One pleasing feature of the match was the return to form, at a decidedly important stage of proceedings, of C. M. Wallace, who carded a gross 79. Next to challenge are W. S. Ogier and H. Bull, and it is to be hoped that this match will be played next weekend, thus keeping the competition moving for- all future contestants.
