WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. After having niuch the better of th» game territorialiy, the Taranaki team •was unlucky to be beaten by Wellington 9 — 5, two penalty goals and a try to a converted ti;y, at Athletic Park on Saturday. It was largely a game of missed opportunities. On four occasious Taranaki just failed to press homc great openings. In addition four rea sonably easy sliots at goai from penal ties Avent astray. Wellington, on the other hand, made no mistakes with penalty shots but au elusive ball robberi them of tAvo possible triea. Beattv. Taranaki iive-eighths, was " one of .the best backs on thG field, with Camoron, lialf , also excelling. Ancell, Holiaia and Carlson were splendid forwards. Bhillips, fullbaek, and Delaniore piayed consistently \yell for Wellington with Wills, O'Donnell and Llbyd impressing in tlie pack. j
