— ^ ■ A full afternoon of entfedlainmenfc was given hockey enthusiast^in.ihe district on Saturday, - when representative fixtures ' were held. All four games were closely contested and the local teams are' to be congratulated'on their .fine showing in. their first year at the game. In the men's A grade game, Horowhenua were unfortunate in not carrying off the honours, .Feilding making a final1 bid to even up a 4ew seconds before time. The game ended Horowhenua '5, Feilding 5, In the 'game with Feilding ' B,4 the latter team was a little superior and prov- . ed' the value of beating the backs by tossing0, the ball about. The final scpre.was Feilding 4, Horowhenua 1. In the women's section, Rangitikei B were lucky to seeure a win over Horowhenua by 2 — 1. A battie royal • resulted when Rangitikei juniors met Horowhenua B, but neither side scored. I After the games the visiting. teams expressed thanks to tlie local committee for the excellent day's outing and at afternoon tea which had been provided by a women's committee. Comment was also passed on the good condition nf* the grounds despite the -heavy rain which had fallen in the .morning. Players are reminded that entries for the five and seven-a-side tournaments close on Wednesday, September 8. .
