Denies New Identity
A claim that "Gunner Chrisp himself .denies all knowledge of the new identity bestowed on him by the War Office and the R.A.F. is made by the Daily Herald. The newspaper's Birmingham correspondent states that he has spoken ''Chrisp," : Who - dqscribes ' the story • thaf • lie> h^s .identified himself^Ad§('- "GioxjgW' rffi allace" as "poppy^c6ck."i ; Air Force headquarters and the War Office refuse to disclose the man's present whereabouts, stating that doctors have asked that he be protected from inquiries. It is believed, however, that he is living in Brmingham, where he has been working as a window-cleaner.
