Social Aids Funds of New Softball Club
On We'dnesday evening the Druids' Hall, Levin, was the scene )f a social evening arranged by - ;he social committee of the Athetic Football Club to help finance squipment for the newly-formed Mhletic. Softball Club. More than L00 people were present and a most enjoyable, evening was spent h dancing to the music of Mrs. H. Dampbell at the piano. Shortly after supper, Mr. C. Wilsinson took an opportunity to sxtend his thanks to those present for their attendance. He sxplained that the softball club ia*d been formed to help. keep the footballers together during the summer months. In order to give Lt a start, , the football club had decided to give it all the support it could. In the past, the football club had enjoye'd a great deSl of popularity and support, and Mr. Wiikinson expressed the hope that the softball club would enjoy the same success. During the evening the M.C., Mr. D. Collier, extended his congratulations to one of the club's members, Mr. G. 'Rippin, on his attaining his majority. Those present paid vocal tribute to this popular player. Novelty 'dances, as always, proved popular and provided a great deal of amusement." Prizes were awarded to Mr. P. O'Donnell and Miss M. Mungavin and MivP. O'Donnell and Mrs. D. Mercer. A^ competition was won by Mr. A. Galpin. Those responsible for the ari;angements must be congratulated on the excellent manner in which they were carried out. The social committee which ' organised the dance consisted of Mesdames H. Rippin, D. Mercer and F. Fletcher, Miss N. Fletcher and Messrs. I. Brash, I. Bond and J. Powell.
