Rahui Thirds Have Had Good Season
As ' runners-up to College Old Boys in the championship? the Rahui third grade football team deserves the highest praise, not only on the improvement they showed. in stepping up from the bottom of the ladder last season to . near the top on this occasion, but also for the highly entertaining standard of play that has been a • marked feature of their games this season. At all times they have conducted themselves i,n the best possible sporting manner, and the versatility and friendiy abandon they have displayed must be' most gratifying to their coach, Mr. C. Pussell, who has every reason to be justly proud of the season 's efforts. They suffered defeat on three occasions, each time at the hands of the championship winners, Colleg"01d Boys. In the two earlier games the score was so even, three points difference each, time, that they had fully tested ' their opponents. While the final defeat iuiiici.ecl oy Oid Boys was decisive, Rahui was disorganised by the absence, through health reasons, of the season's most improved forward, wnhe their backline was not the usual combination, one of the mainstays being away in the South Island. Mr. Pussell supplies the follow--ing resupie of the points scored: — A. WinteTburn 27, W. Cook 25, W. Davis 19, W. Waaka 15, W. Royal 14, T. Hohipuha 12, R. Raika 11, A. Cook, D. Walker and I. Mudge 9 each, T. Ahern 6, R. Giddens, L. Merwood and J. Harvey 3 each; tota'l 165. With Rahui juniors still in the running for the junior championship, the Rahui Club can look back on the season just.about to conclude with great satisfaction, and they can look forward to the future full of confidence.
