NEW RUGBY BALL
Followers of the rugby Code and, in particular, footballers themselves, will be very intereste'd to learn that a new footbal'l has made its appearance on the market. The outer casing is of rubberised canvas and is -segmented with a small criss-cross pattern which definitely assists handling in wet | weather. It is daimed that the ball never gains weight nor loses its shape in wet weather. A trial game was recently played with the nevf ball at Wellington and players and spectators alike agreed that it made a vast 'difference to the game, particularly in the back' division. In wet weather, mishandling of the ball is practically eliminated. Placekicking is truer than with the leatlier ball. If this new ball is adopted (and there is no reason why it shouldn't be) then dropped passes on . wet days will become a thing of the past and football wLl be speeded up which, from thespectators' point of view, is something that would be weicome.
