WELLINGTON, August 31. A tropical „cyelone is expected to riffeet the North Island in the next two or three days, stated the Weather Office tonight." The cyclope is likely tp reach East Cape within the next 24 to 36 hours and then move down the East Coast on to the South Island. As it passes down the cpast, strong east to southeast winds Teaching gale force, are expected with heavy rain. Strong winds 50 to 55 miles an hour, accompanied by *torr,ential rain, are beiug- experienced within 300 miles of.. the tentre of the eyelone. ''"A'' ' The Weather Office added that southerly winds and rain are likely to develop in ^ the Wellington and Manawatu districts late tomorrow afternoon while winds up to gale loree with widespread rain, are f'orecast for the Wairarapas The eyelone developed west pi ihe New Hebrides. At midday on Sunday it was west of New Caledonia and by midday Monday it had moved across Norfolk Island, the centre passing near the island.
