Personal Mr. Donald Grant, of Te Horo, ivho was the unfortunate victim of an' injury to his eye recently, is not progressing. as weii as was formeriy boped, and has had to consult an sye speciaiist. The death took place at Palmerston North on Thursday of Mrs, Ldith Terry, of Feilding, relic't of the late Mr. Albert Edward Terry, arid mother of Keith, late of Otaki. Mr. and Mrs. Terry formeriy resided at Te Horo. Trout Fry Liberated Members of the local branch of the Acclimatisation Society had a very busy afternoon on Saturday, when they turned out in full force for the purpose of liberating fry in the upper reaches of the rivers a'djacent to Otaki. Some 72,000 fry were liberated, as follows: In the Otaki River, and its tributaries, 30,000; in the Waikawa, 12,000; in the Waikanae, 18,000; in the Waito.hu, 6000; and in° the Mangaone, 6000. Nearly a Fire The appearance of smoke during the matinee screening at the Civic Theatre on Saturday aftenioon caused not a little concern to the management. A prompt search by the manager, Mr. D. Hoilings, revealed an overheated electric motor, which had badly charred the paintwork on the table on which it was seated. Mr. R. T. Mortiboy, the Power Boai'd Inspector, was promptly called in to solve the cause, and luckily no damage was done.
