Raukawa B Likely To Win Ladies' Competition
With only one series to be played in the Horowhenua Hockey Association's ladies' ^competition, Raukawa B appear to be well in the lead. They' were again too superior for College, emerging the victors by nine goals to nil in the game on Saturday. Misses B. and L Hakaraia, R. Royal, T. Morihu and Mrs. E. Seal all seored goals. Levin ladies' are now out of' the picture as far as the competition is concerned. They were beaten by Raukawa A by two goals to one. Misses Gorrie and R. Hakaraia scored for Raukawa, while Mrs. B. Henderson collected the goal for Levin. The Levin — Te Horo match played at Levin on Saturday was one of the best seen in this district for some time. -From the start, Te Horo peiietrated Levin's territory, but Leask and Thomas soon- cleared with hard hitting and put the Levin forwards into motion. After 15 minutes' play, Goodwin was successful in- scoring from a followthrough after a tussle in the ctrcle. Half time saw the score standing at" Levin 1; Te Horo 0. A few minutes after the second spell began, the Te Horo forwards Went into actiorl and Windley cleverly slipped a shot past Smith to even the score. About hve minutes from the end^of the game, an exciting incident occurred in the Levin goal mouth. Fuller took the ball in and slipped over. Goalie Smith, fell on top of Fuller and before the' referee could stop the game eightplayers were down trying to get at the ball. A penalty bully was awarded but Smith cleared. The game ended with the score Levin 2, Te Horo 1.
