Coming-of-age Party At Mangaore
Festivities Were in fUll'Swing at the home of Mr.- and Mrs. J; D, Uampbeli, Mangapre, over last , weekend to mark; the6 coming-of-age of their sec'ond son, Ian. With his brothers, Colin and Graeme, and nine . friepds, he journeyed home from Wellington for the occasion. On Saturday evening at the Mangaore Hall a gathering of neariy 100 spent a happy time. Mr. P. Coie was M.C. and between each dance he calied upon a male member of the gathering to give an Impromptu speech on a set subject. This form of entertainment proved both humorous and popular. A savoury buffet supper was enjoyed, the customary Dirthday cake being cut with due eeremony and an exceptionally large key presented to the guest of honour, to whom a toast was pr'oposed by Mr. S. W. Barber,, of Moutoa. Mr. L. Carter, also of Moutoa, proposed a toa'st to Mr. and- Mrs. Campbell. Mrs. T. Fuller and Miss Elwyn Newth played for the dances. ' A dinner party w'as hebron Sunday and the three brothers and their Wellington friends returned to the city in the early aftern'oon.
