Father Foley officiated an'd Mrs. L. Dalzell, of 'Palmerston North, played appropriate . music. .The pink and white . . ca'mellias used by Miss Grace'Smith and Mrs. J. Hennessy to decorate the church for this occasion blended beautifully with the interior colouring of cream and green. ' ■ Mr. J. Thomson, of Aria, Te Kuiti, escorted his niece who looked charming in her trained bridal gown of heavy white satin. The bodice was fully rucke'd in front with a heart-shaped ne'cklin^ and long sleeves pointed over the ,wrists. The shoulders were slightly padded and .covered buttons ornamented the back from the neck to below the waistline. The skirt was very full. Recently worn by her sister Joyce (Mrs. R. Lochead, P.N.) , the beautifully embroi'dered veil was held to .the head by a coronet of . spotted net leaves and orange blossoms and fell to form a second train. She qarried a trailing bouquet of white cyclamen, helleborus an'd cafnellias with ribbon streamers and wore a single string of pearls. The marina green lace over taffeta f rocks worn by the matron-of-honour, (Mrs. R. Lochead, sister of the bride) and the bridesmaid (Miss Colleen Lawrence, Palmerston North) , repeated the colouring of the interior of the church giving a pleasing effect. The frocks were made alike with full shaped skirts gathered on to a broad waistband pointed in front. The bodices were rucked to the centre front and ha'd heart-shaped necklines and short rucked sleeves. Frilled topped lace mittens were worn an'd their softly falling shoulder ^length marina green veils were held in place by pink camellias, helleborus and maidenhair fern. fashioned into a 1 topknot , with a side trailer. Pretty pink and white matching bouquets tied with pirik ribbons were carried . an,d tbe.y wore paua shell necklaces,i the gifts df;£he bfidegrqom, » ■ The best man was,Mr.-'R. Lochead,, and the ' groornsman Mr. Bruce Smith (brother of the bridgroom). Mr. Brian Moynihan was usher. As the bridal party emerged from the church into the sunshine the bri!de .was presented with a rucked satin horseshoe by her sister Alexia, and opportunity was taken to photograph the group. The Druids' hall was the rendezvous for the wedding breakfast, and here ,the,-14(kguests were ,, receivedJ by' tMrs.i Thomson, with -the' bri'de's' uncle (Mr. ' J. Thomson') , as escort; Mrs. Thomson wearing a midnight blue c^epe frock, fur coafe and black- hat and accessories. The: bridegroom's aunt (Mrs. E. D. Knight, of Auckland) with Mr. P. A. Smith, assisted in welcoming the guests, who felicitated the young couple before taking their places at the long tables decorated with pink camellias and spring flowers. Mrs. E. Knight wore a turquoise light weight wool frock embroidered with black, fur coat and turquoise saphari. Both ladies wore sprays of tinted freezias, helleborus and 'daphne, made by Mrs. C. Guerin, a friend of the bridegroom's family, who also made the bouquets. Mr. A. -Webster, of Wellington, genially carried out the duties of toastmaster. The usual toasts were honoured and the -bri'de cut the beautifully white iced and silver decorated three-tiered wedding cake which was topped with a silver vase of white flowers and maidenhair fern. As an interlude Mrs. D. Heggi-e, Palmerston North, sang "I'll Walk Beside You," and Mr. W.-.H.' Roberts led with community singing. Finally "Auld Lang Syne" and "Haere Ra" brought the reception to a- close. In the evening a large number of young friends of the bride and bridegroom were entertained at a dance in the Druids' hall where the newly married dohple joined them for a while. When Mr. and Mrs. Smith left for their honeymoon trip to the South Island, Mrs. Smith was wearing a model apricot crepe frock under a brown fur coat ( the. gift of the bridegroom) , an ~attractive of-the-face fur hat and brown accessories. A large number of the guests travelled from ' a distance, some coming from Auckland .and others from as far South as Christchurch. At a pre -wedding party in Laurvig's hall arranged by the residents of Buckley, many useful gifts for kitchen use wero bestowed upon ,the bride-to-be with best wishes for future happiness. More than 30 people were.present and all enjoyed the social evening. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Smith have taken up residence at Buckley.
