Three Men Burnt In Unusual Circumstances
AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. Three members of the fire crew at Hobsonville air force station, who yesterday afternoon wore asbestos suits and stood in a tray of burning material, were today in Auckland Hospital suffering from burns. They are: Norman Owen Marsh, aged 21, suffering from burns; Francis Warren Cheyne, aged 20, burns and shock; and Murray Flynn, burns and shock. The condition of Marsh today is fair and of the other two satisfactory. The rnen underwent the test to acc'ustom themselves to entering flames in fireproof suits. After the flames had been extinguished v/ith foam e'quipment, they were found to have suffered steam burns. It is believed that. the suits may haye been damp. "An inquiry will be held. " '
