WELLINGTON, Aug. 13. A New Zealapd Liberal Party has 1 been formed in Wellington, accord- ! ing to a statemept * today by its ' phairman, Mr. A. J. H. McClay, J.P., of Wellington. A provisional executive was elected at a meeting last evening and this will form the basis of a. Dominion-wide organisation. Representatives , from j Auckland and ' Christchurch at- • tended. ' . ' ' . Asked whether his party, intend- ; ed contesting- the next General Election, Mr. McClay said that this was most unlikely as the first ob^. jective was to consolidate thoroughly. He added that it had been shown by a survey that there was a widespread desire throughout New Zealand for the formation of a Liberal Party.
