New Tractor Speeding Up Borough Work
The Levin Borough Council should have no-difRculty in providing soil for topdressing and building up gardens and plantations in the borough in the future. With the fine weather the new. grader has been at work 011 the borough streets, elearing off grass and soil and widening the roads. In consequence a great deal of earth and grass has accumulate'd and the council is having this collected and made into huge "dumps," which will in effect b,e compost heaps. One oi these heaps is at present being built in 'the south-western cortier of'the Levin Park Domain. Measuring some 24 feet square, it is now about six feet high .and is expected to reach 12 feet before it is completed.'» It is expected that there wjll be^several of these scatter.ed thro^ghout' the borough. 'The town.clerk, Mr./H. L." Jenkins, said today that it^wa's riot intended tq add any fertiliser to the soil. He explained that the work being done was ordinary maintenance, but that the new grader was proving'a great help, in getting it a^ne quicker.' " / ' 11 *' ■
