Rugby Union Congratulates Rep. Teams
Congratulations to the junior representative. team on their win over Wairoa' were expressed by members of the management committee of the Horowhenua Rugby Union at Tuesday night's meeting. The manager of the team, Mr. N. Kingi, was loud in his .praise of the conduct and bearing of the team members. The expense the union had been put to in sending the team such a long distance was well repaid by the conduct of the team and the experience which it had gained, said Mr. Kingi. It was decided to send a note of Lhanks to the Wairoa officials for the hospitality extended to the Horowhenua team. , The president, Mr. A. Gillesple, also extended his congratulations to the local team and its manager and coaches. Praise for the senior team which played Wanganui on Saturday was also forthcoming from both the manager and members of the committee who had viewed the match. The manager, Mr. D. - Cole, said that the team had put up a very good performance against the Wanganui team, and it had been stated by Wanganui officials that the team had been the best Wanganui had met in two years. The conduct of the players had been most praiseworthy, added Mr. Cole. Congratulations were extended by the chairman to both the manager, coaches and selectors. It was also decided to ask' Wanganui for a game on September II, as it was stated that Wanganui had expressed a wlsh to play Horowhenua as the first match on its return from the present tour. It was decided to appoint Mr. R. Sands as seleetor for the Horowhenua players to play in the All Biack trial game. Players in the ManawatuHorowhenua game on Saturday wiil leave by bus from Levin at 12 noon. The manager wiil be Mr. C. Wilkinson. Mr. Cole was appointed manager of the junior team to play Wairarapa at Masterton, the bus leaving Otaki at 8 a.m., Levin 8.30 and Shannon 8.50. Messrs. Winiata and Cole wiil represent the selectors at this match. In regard to the third grade game to be played at Foxton, the manager wiil be Mr. C. Pussell, and the team wiil leave Otaki by bus at 11.30 a.m. and Levin 12 noon, leaving Levin at 12.30 and Shannon 1 p.m., arriving in Foxton at 1.30 p.m. . Team members from the south wiil be allowed time for lunch at Levin from 12 till 12.30 p.m., andanembers of the first fifteen from the south can use this transport to come from Otaki to Levin.
