Fifty Mile Road Race For Junior Cyclists

In response to a request from the Wellington Centre, the Otaki Amateur Athletic 'and Cycling Club, at a meeting on Thursday night, decide'd to assist in promoting a 50 mile road race for junior cyclists. The annual road cycling race of 100 miles from Palmerston North to Wellington is set down for Saturday, October 23, and it was agreed that the two events coul'd be successfully competed for on the same day. Whereas the 100 mile race caters for riders of 19 years of age and over, the new race from Otaki -to Wellington will be for riders under 19 years of age. In response to the suggestion from the president, Mr. F, Edwards, that a sub-committee be set up to ■arrange further details, Messrs. W. Connor, E. Cook, O. Nilsson, J. Mudge and D. Smith were appointed. It was further agreed that a eanvass be made for trophies or prize-money for the event.
