Methodist Vote Favours Church Union
WEL1JNGTON, August (5. Tho result of the Methodist vote in the five churches of the Wellington East cir.cuit on the proposed Itasis of union with the Presbyterian and Congregational churches ilias been -made pultlic and shows a strong majority in favour of the scheme. The quarterlv meeting of officials was in favour of it by 56 votes to 13 and members of the churches by 203. votes to 54. The vote of officials is requircd bv the church' 's law and the vote of membership was souglit to provide the annual conference with an additional guide. Yotin'g in individual churches' was: Hataitai, 63 for, 6 against: Miramar, 52 for, 4 against; Worser^Bay, 21 for, 4 against; Lyall Bay, 36 for, 7 against; Island Bav, 31 for, 33 against. The results of the Methodist vote throughout the Dominion are expected to- be announeed shortly. ■ A meeting of the Presbyterian Church Union Committee set down for the middle of this month is expected ^oymnsider the vote of that church and also to dec-ide how it shall be made public. The Congregational votes are being counted in Auckland • and the date f or their releasfi is not yet known.
