Fitzgerald,, of the Bank of New Zealand staff , left ori Thursday evening on a vtsit to Christchurch. • i The frien'ds of Mrs. Tom Martin, of Vance Street, will be pleased to iearn that she is progressing favourably following her recent operation. State House Roofs ' After a considerable hold ' up owing to an inability to. obtain materi'als, the tiles for the roofs of the remaining two State house units at the' corner of Margaret and Vance Streets have arrived. These are now being affixed and work with the interiors will continue immediately the roofing is completed. Help For Health Camp As 'the result of donations made by the pupils of the Shannon School, the headmaster, Mr. F. O. Burtt, was able to hand over the sum of £7 10s to the Otaki Health Camp. This is an excellent effort by the children and they are to be congratulated on their very fine gesture. School Diamond Jubilee At a meeting of- the Shannon Schooi Committee this week the preliminafy arrangement for the school diamond jubilee, which takes place'in 1949 were made. AsJ:he time approaches a full scale errort will be made to make the jubilee a success. The school's silver jubilee whieh was held in July, 1939, will be well remembered by citizens and ex-pupils as on'e of the best organised and most successful .events held in the town. __
