That the seleetors should choose 30 men as possible representatives and let them win their place in the team through keenness and attendance at practices' was the suggestion made at Tuesday night's meeting of the Horowhenua Rugby Union's management committee by Mr. G. T. Clunie. >The discussion arose when it» was mentioned that some junior representative players were not turning up to practice. . tytr. Clunie said that players selected for the representative team were tbo confident of their ihclusion. He thought that it would be better to have those who attended practices than the "brilliant" ones who stayed at home. He was of the opinion that players not attending rep. practices should also be stood down for club games, said Mr. N. Kingi after citing a case .of a junior player who had not turned up, and who had inconvenienced the whole team. It was decided that the clubs concerned be written to for an explanation. That eight different coloured jerseys were used by a team during a recent match was mentioned by Mr. C. E. Wiseley, the referees' delegate, who said that although he understood the union was not, in view of the shortages of jerseys, penalising teams for playing in o.ther colours, he thought that eight different colours was too confusing. He asked that clubs be requested to keep. the number down to two. It was decided to act accordingly. For not having a team slip during a recent game, the Otaki-Rahui team was fined 2s 6d. Congratulations to the Horowhenua junior representative team for the fine game it had played against Bush under trying conditions were extended by members of the committee. Congratulations were also extended to the coaches and manager.
