The Politicai Science Society at Victoria Univcrsity College ; was addressed tonight by the Lead'er of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, on the funetions of the Opposition in Parliament. At the eonclusiori of his address Mt. Holland was asked questions by the audience. . . . \Asked wket'he^BiS.Party had formed any: policy to bringtdown the price of petrol, he said* .the --'price . could and should 4?e lower. - , Hisc'tif^ing methods, of bringing prices down, he said wjages were one of the main factors. ti his Party went on a policy of cutting wages, it would commit itself to the Opposition for life. ' ' The way to get prices down is for the people to do more woik in the same time, " he-.said./*;"-We are selling'our 'goods on 'o'versekij- ma'fkets at about 70 per cent. qbove prewar. prices but we are paying .170 per cent. above prewar prices for the goods we are importing. ' ' He said he advocated the proiit sliaring system to give incentive to work, as a rnethpd of bringing prices down. He was in favour of peacetime conscriptiop, he said in another reply. The surest way to have war would be to be iinprepared.
