Veto Suggestion Annoys Russia

Mr. Vyshinsky told the Western Powers at the Danube conference that if they persisted in laying down condi- ■ tions, "the door would be opened for ' them to leave," says Reuter's Belgrade | correspondent. Nfr. Vyshinsky was j answering a deelaration that France eonld not aceept a majority vote of the conference if it did not recognise axisting treaties. Mr. Vyshinsky: "This isn't the language of cooperation but of command. " He said that if the Western Powers persisted in laying down eonditions under which. they would a:cepi conference decisions, "as the door was opened for them to come here, so the door will be opened for them to Ica.,." The French and British delegations said they insisted on reiaining the rights acquired under the 1921 Danube Convention, even if the conference results went against them. The British United Press Belgrade correspondent says Mr. Yyshinskv, lod faeod and gesticulating, said: "We are facing an ultimatum from Britain, TTnited Rtates and France. This ultimatum has been placed before us bofore any draft convention has been prepared and with out knowledge of the principles on which the new convention will be based.
