Commercial Association's Annual Meeting
- At the annual general meeting of fhe Otaki Commercial Association, heid on Wednesday night, the elecItion of officers resulted as follows: — President: Mr. W. McBeth (reelected) ; secretary-treasurer: Mr. N. D. Anderson; auditor: Mr. J. D. Avery; committee: Mrs. W. Wilson, Messrs. A. W. Buxton, E. J. Cook, H. R. Eaton, H. B. Edhouse, L. G. Gimblett, S. W. Harvey, J. Mason, L. F. Moss, M. P. Newdick, J. E. Southgate, H. Taylor and H. G. Wylie. Complimentary reference was made by the president, Mr. McBeth, to the many years of outstanding service rendered by Mr. J. D. Avery, who. had faithfuily per-| formed the duties of secretary an'd treasurer, and who desired. to relinquish the position. Members endorsed the president's remarks. Mr. Avery assured1 members that they had a worthy successor; in Mr. Anderson. The annual report revealed that the association had concentrated on furtliering the progress of the Tasman Beach motor camp. Feeling reference was made to the death of two prominent members, Messrs. L. G. Lowry and H. M. J. Nicolson. It was agreed that tlie planting scheme for Moana Street sho uld receive, further attention. A resolution was passed calling the attention of the New Zealand Railways Department to the condition of the roadway to the goods shed. Another attempt is to he made to have a public telephone installed at Otaki Railway. A ready means for raising funds for the War Memorial was gone into, and representatives were appointed to co-operate with the Otaki Borough Council representatives in a prqposed deputation.
