Special Meeting Of Borough Council
A special meeting of the Otaki Borough- Council . .was held • on Thursday night to discuss . urgent matters. The Mayor, Mr. C. F, Atmore, presided and ' there were present Crs. N. D. Andersbn, . E,"J. Cook, H. W, Hakaraia and J, ReG ter, and the town cierk, Mr, A. Wiljson. Leave of abserice was-granted to Councillors E. T. Bartosh and G, McKinley. ■ . 7 v * .. Matters relating • tp ihe Tasman Beach motor camp were freely- discussed, and tne formation of. roads adjacent thereto was. deeihed advisable before the sale of sections was proceeded with. It was agreed that the council's consulting engineer should be invited to visit the site without delay and advise as to whaf levelling was required, together with the cost, to put the sections in the best order for selling, It was agreed also that Moana Street was in a poor coildition,.and was being undermined. A plan of the drainage necessar-y is = -fco be promptly sought. . Rupini Street - and . Babbacombe Avenue were repbrted to be in heed of attention. The former. street is to be graded and the latter built up and rqmetalled. It was further agreed that the drain in the vicinity of : the . post office should be the subject . of a report from the engineer as to the best means of relieving the problem of water banking up and overflowing on to footpaths nearby. Street lighting at Tasman Beach was another matter considered, and the works committee was delegated to inspect the locality, in comp'any with the Horowheiiua Power Board inspector, Mr. R. T. Mortiboy, early next week. ,
