WELLINGTON, Julv 30. The indicatiou by the Oil Fitel Gontroller given yesterday to a deputation ! from the Wellington Housewives' Association, that sufficient petrol was avaiir able for all household deliveries to be resunicd, was most significant. Mr. D. \ I. Macdonald, secretary of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation, ) stated this today when eommenting on Ihe position of petrol supplies in rela- ( tion to manufacturers' requirements. From niolith to month, he said, there were cases arising throughout New • Zealand where insufficient petrol was » available to manufaeturing concerns to > maintain their normal programme of" production and distri'bution. While admittedly an appfoach to the Oil Fuel [ Oontroller has usually brought about • an adjustment, the vei'y fact that this 1 ajiproach had been necessarv meant tliat there had been some interruption • or dislocation within the industry or l factory concerned. Therefore, manufacturers interpreted the assurance given in relation to household deliveries, as an indication that sufficient petrol would also be made available to maintain the even more neeessary transport of raw materlals of production and partially processed or finished products, to their appropriate point of ' use or wholesale distribhtion.
