Flood Information And Warnings
"By arrangement with the chief engineer (Mr. P. G. Evans), it is practicable to organise a 24-hour information service for settlers and others interested during flood periods, to ensure dissemination of accurate information relating thereto," sai'd Mr. L. J. Hagan, clerk to the Manawatu Catchment Board, in a report to the board yesterday. "When flooding is imminent the office will be staffed on a shift basis by four officers, who will receive from Mr. Evans the reports of flood levels and on his instructions will pass the information on to all persons interested. Likewise, the office Will receive from assistant engineers and others,. information regarding river levels, etc., and will record same for the information of the chief engineer. No information will be broadcast except on the instruetion of the chief engineer, but the office will serve as the one cntral office will serve as the one central semination of authorised flood information." i" ~^ry:
