Annual Meeting Of R.S.A. Women's Section
The .annual meeting of the Women's Section of the Shannon Returned Services' Association was held in Laurvig's Hall on Saturday evening. Mrs. C. Guerin presided over 19 memhers. Following a discussion, it was resolved that, with the object of increasing memhership* by facilitating attendance of mothers with smail children, afternoon- meetings will be held in fut-ure, commencing at 1.45 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month, The first afternoon meeting will be held on A.ugust 25, when new members will be cordially wercomed. - It was decided that the section condnct a Paddy's -Market and a tentative ddte was set for September 24, The re.tiring president, Mrs. C. Guerin, presented her .report in which she gave a resume of the year's activity, A vote of thanks was^accorded Mrs. Guerin for the work she has done during her term , of office. The following officers were elected for the coming year: — ^Patroness: Mrs. J. A. Easton; president: Mrs. S. W. Barber; vice-presidents: Mesdames i F. O. Burtt, C. Guerin, J. Ritchie; secretary: Mrs. H. R.! Quinlan; treasurer: Mrs. N. Sell ; -j Press represent'ative : Mrs. F, 0/ Burtt; competitioh ste.ward: Mrs.j W. Third; executive committee: Mesdames S. W. Barber, F. O. Burtt; C. Guerin, J. Ritchie, H. R. Quinlan and N. Sell. Following the general business the usual monthly competitions; were held and the results were as' follows: — Bloom: Mrs. Quinlan 1. Handwork: Mrs. Guerin 1, Mrs. Third 2, Mrs. Sell 3. The competition winners for the year just eompleted were Mrs. W. Third (best bloom), Mrs. Third (handwork) and Mrs. Sell (other cornpetitions) . ; At the conclusion of the meeting supper was served .by the hostesses. 1
