Tons of Tomato Sauce For Britain
WELLINGTON, July 20. The largest shipment of tomato sauce ever to leave New Zealand for Britain will be carried in the Shaw, Savill motor ship Waipawa, when she sails for London on Thursday. It will be aceompanied by an urrusually large shipment_ of frozen meat. The sauce, which was manufaetured in# Wellington and Napier, c-onsists of 14,000 cases weighing over 400 tons.. The frozen -mutton and beef' weighs (5000 tons. Hhipping compq,ny officials said that the size of the sauce shipment was aeeounted- for by the fact that it was hot a priority cargo. It had been accumulating in stor.e for many months, being displaced on suceessiVe ships by foodstuffs in greater deinand in Britain. Now, however, the sliipping position had eased with the end of the killing and dairying seiasdns.. The Waipawa will also carry 2500 bales of wool, 586 sacks of cows horns, and 450 casks of tallow to England. She has a small shipment- of rennet for Monte Video besides 11S prize rams, nine ewes and nine cattle.
