; ^ NAPIER, July 20. Two bovs aged 14 and 15 years 1 uppeared in the Napier Children 's Couri tliis morning /on a charge of converting a car owned by Dr. E. G. Ward, oi I i'almerston North on Sundav. The boy;. were the two who escaped from the r Weraroa Training Farm at Levin on kiturday night. Senior Detective D. McKenzie, asking ; .or a remand in custodj^ to Palmerston -Crrth, on July 23, said the ofder of the two boys appeared in the Napier Court: 1 short time ago on a series of charge.s•i:.d was committeed to the care of the I I liild Welfare Department. I Asked by the presiding Justice what . siiould be done with thenij Mr. McKen- . zie replied: "They want a good hiding and when that is firiished give them another one. That is the only languagt , they unde'rstand. " He said there would be a number oi' charges of car conversion and two of breaking, entering and theft to be brought against them. Dr. Ward's car, in which they had , come frorn Palmerston North, was rtfir into a ditch and badly damage'd. A re inand was granted.
