' Although the residential area and the main streets of Shannon have received considerable attention in a brightening up campaign recently made by the council and private residents, the whole effect was lost on Sunday when the streets and footpaths were littered with greasy newspaper. It is indeed unfortunate that a section of the community cannot co-operate with the authorities in keeping the town tidy over the weekend. Until the materials bcome available to mahe the rubbish containers which were ordered by the council some time ago', citizens could make an effort 'to place rubbish in "some place where it whl not be blown along the main streets, making the town an eyesore to the passing jpublic and visitors. Health Inspection ^ The district mspector of health and' sanitation, Mr. W. J. Guinan, presented his report for the period from April 1 to June 30 at the Shannon Borough Council's recent toeeting. Four habitations, which include dwellings, hotels and boarding houses, were inspected and two requisitions served. Three foodselling premises were visited and no reduisitons served.
