The loss of the Kogarah seat tothe Liherals after polling in a State by-election an Saturday, is aecounted - the worst reverse suffered by the State Labour PartyNsince 1944. When voting closed for the night, the Liberal candidate, Mr. D. D. Oross, i led with 12,038 vates compared with 11,514 seoured by the Labour man, Mr. H. W. Oxford, Votes to be counted total 1300. At the last Kogarah election in May, 1947, the Labour tnajority was 3732. The pofi indicates a swiug of 15 per cent against Labour.
