July Meeting Of Scout Committee
Tlie July meeting of the First Otaki Boy Scout Committee was held on Thursday. Mr. Rule, who presided, advised members that Mr. J. Kelly was making fairiy good headway, and it was hoped that he would soon be back in Otaki, taking an active part in the affairs of the commitA vote of thanks was accordea Mr. and Mrs. T. McFetridge for the use of their room for the recent annual meeting. A report from the sub-committee set up to draw up a tentative pro-. gramfne in connection with this year's annual effort was considered, and will be submitted to headquarters for approval. Members expressed regret that no satisfaction could be obtained from the Otaki Borough Council regarding a pronfised site on which to erect a scout hall, and that a I meeting with the committee concerned could not be arranged, and it was decided that a deputation be sent to the next council meeting. As the Otaki Band is interested in a site also, it was agreed to' ask the band to support the deputation. I Mrs. Henwood, cubmaster, iannounced that the prize from an anonymous dbnor for the cub who tried the hardest throughout the year, had been awarded to John Perkins.
