LOOKING TOWARDS FORMATION OF MORE TEAMS

Having established itself in Levin, Otaki and Foxton, the Horowhenua Hockey Association is now seeking to interest Shannon, Waikanae and Paraparaumu in the sport, and to this end is discussing organising meetings early in August at these places with a view to bringing about the formation of teams there. This question was one of those discussed at the monthly meeting of the association iast week, presided over by Mr. L. V. Trass. It was with regret that the Rau-

kawa men's team had had to drop out of the competition through lack of players, said a letter from that ciub. An assurance was given that a team would be mustered for the following year's competitions. Messrs Ralph and Trass were appointed selectors for the Women 's representative teams and Messra Spiers and Trass were appointed to make the selections for the men's teams. Sevcral invitations for representative matches were received from other ass-ociations. Upper Hutt are sending three teams to Otaki on Saturday, August 28. A tentative date was set down for two women 's leams- from Rangitikei and two men's teams from Feilding to piay at Levin on September 4. The Horowhenua women 's team was inviteu to play Wellington B for the Baker Paratu Cup during September. The association ' also dealt with the women 's North-South match and a local iive-a-side men's and seven-a-sido women's affiliated clubs' t ou rnament.
